1. Introduction

Runpacks ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Runpacks mobile application and the website at runpacks.app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account we collect your email address and display name. Your email is used for authentication (magic-link sign-in), transactional messages, and account recovery.

2.2 Location Data

With your permission, we collect precise GPS coordinates when you create or join a pack. We also derive an approximate location (geohash-5, roughly 5 km resolution) to power the "packs nearby" feature. Location is never collected in the background — only while you actively use the app.

2.3 Photos

You may upload profile pictures and pack cover images. Uploaded images are stored in Google Cloud Storage. We strip EXIF metadata (including GPS tags) from photos before storage.

2.4 Push Notification Tokens

If you enable push notifications, we store your device push token (via Expo Push Notification service) to deliver alerts about RSVPs, reminders, and captain notes. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings or your device's system settings.

2.5 Device Identifiers

We collect a device identifier for crash reporting (Sentry) and to prevent abuse. We do not use device identifiers for advertising.

2.6 Usage Data

We collect anonymous analytics on how you interact with the Service (screens visited, feature usage) to improve the product.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you deactivate your account, your data is hidden but preserved so you can reactivate by signing back in. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account in the app. This permanently removes your profile, packs, RSVPs, and follower graph. Your email and handle become available for new registrations.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, as well as the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@runpacks.app.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
